At a high-school party on May 16th 2006, Dan and Christian came up with the idea of founding a rock band. They were inspired by a not so great Bon Jovi wannabe who performed with his band that day. Feeling this inspired, Dan and Chris immediately started thinking about what they could call themselves. Seen that Chris was wearing a t-shirt which had “Gigolo” written on it and that they are big fans of vintage clothing, the name “VINTAGE GIGOLOS” spontaneously came to mind.
As the expression “vintage” indicates, their idea first had to mature for a while. After a couple of rehearsals by themselves, Chris and Dan became quite bored and so they started motivating other people for their band. It was at the end of August that Paul joined them. With Misch’s (ILL?, DEPPEGEISSER) support on the bass guitar the first coversongs were played. When another bass guitarist quit after the very first rehearsal, they quite simply made Lou, who was their technician at the time, play the bass.
What started out as a practical training soon became a full-time job for those five and so they played their first gig in May 2007. Today they play their own songs which they quite simply call WHISKY-ROCK, because of the inspiration that Whisky gave them for some of their first songs. They had another 7 concerts in 2007. On February 23th 2008, they started their second season at the « Uni goes Esch Party » which took place at the Kulturfabrik in Esch-sur-Alzette.
